New Half-Life: Alyx mod Levitation gets five-hour single-player campaign

Two mod makers team up on a new single-player campaign for VR game Half-Life: Alyx. This mod, called Levitation, adds a “four or five hour” story to the game. The mod is free and will be released later this year.

Levitation builds on Half-Life: Alyx story, according to a trailer which was shared during the PC Gaming Show 2022. In the mod, main character Alyx goes in search of two insurgent rebels, Maya and Barry. They have discovered a mysterious floating building in Sector X of City 17 and decided to investigate it on their own. Alyx receives a distress signal from the two resistance fighters, revealing that dangerous Combine technology is buried there. It’s up to Alyx to investigate that threat and rescue the two rebels.

An extended eight-minute gameplay trailer shows Alyx taking on Combine soldiers and headcrabs as she ventures deeper and deeper into Sector X. The trailer refers to the search for Gordon Freeman and the illustrious G-Man can also be seen in the background several times.

Half-Life Alyx: Levitation will be released later this year, but when exactly is not known. The mod will then be released in the Steam Workshop and will be free for anyone who already owns Half-Life: Alyx.
