‘New Google phones are called Pixel and Pixel XL’
Two independent sources have informed Android Police that there are strong suspicions that the new Google phones will be called Pixel and Pixel XL. These are the two aircraft currently known as Marlin and Sailfish.
Android Police seems to continue to confirm the suspicions that surfaced a few days ago via Android Central. The search giant’s new Android smartphones would not only not be called ‘Nexus’, but also get a modified version of Android 7.0 and not, as was usual with the Nexus line, run a basic version of Android.
It is almost certain that the new devices are made by HTC, but the name of the manufacturer does not appear on the devices. The Google logo would be on the back. The first new phone with Android 7.0 is the LG V20, which will be presented on September 6.
Google first used the Pixel name on its own Chromebook Pixel notebooks, of which the company made two versions, one in 2013 and one in 2015. A tablet called Pixel C also appeared in late 2015.
It is not yet known when the new smartphones from Google will appear on the market. According to another report from Android Police, the Pixel models will be announced on October 4.
