The new Battlefield game, which will be released in October and is rumored to have a World War II theme, may be announced on May 23. An easter egg in Battlefield 1 led to an EA website that stated this date.

Battlefield 1 players recently solved a mysterious Easter egg, according to game website Eurogamer and YouTube channel Westie. The easter egg is located in a Battlefield 1 map called Fort de Vaux. It concerns a door that was closed for about a year, on which the French word ‘isolation’ is written.

A recently released patch added hidden buttons in several places on the map. Each button represented a letter of the word isolation, requiring the buttons to be pressed in the correct order to open the door. Behind the door is an abandoned cell where the pipes make a certain rhythmic sound, which led to an EA website in Morse code. There are more clues in the cell that may provide even more information.

The publisher’s website only mentions a date: May 23, with the Battlefield hashtag underneath. Further details are still missing. According to previous rumors, the new shooter will be called ‘Battlefield V’ and the game will have a World War II theme. EA has not yet confirmed these details, but previously reported that the game will be released in October.

EA CEO Andrew Wilson recently said that the new Battlefield game will include a single player mode. VentureBeat reported a few weeks ago based on a source that Dice, the developer of the Battlefield games, is testing a battle royale mode.
