‘Nettop’ with Ivy Bridge dual cores announced
The Chinese manufacturer Giada has announced the Mini PC i53: a thin mini PC that comes with Core i3, i5 and i7 dual cores of the Ivy Bridge generation. The hdd offers 500GB of storage space and the consumption would be around 30W.
The Giada Mini PC i53 comes in configurations with Core i3, i5 and i7 dual cores of the Ivy Bridge generation. This concerns the processors that are normally used for laptops in combination with the HM67 chipset from Intel. The amount of memory is standard 2GB, but that can be expanded to 4GB.
Giada offers models with 2.5″ drives with 320GB and with 500GB. In terms of interfaces, there is a USB 3.0 port, four USB 2.0 variants, HDMI, VGA and a card reader. The small computer can connect via the gigabit lan port and has wifi-n and bluetooth support.
The Chinese manufacturer packs the hardware into a small housing of only 192x155x26mm and the company has managed to keep the consumption at 30W. These kinds of thin systems appeared years ago as netps with slow Atom processors, but manufacturers like Giada now often use laptop hardware in the mini PCs, which can serve well as media centers, also because the manufacturer includes a remote control. The Mini PC i53 with Core i5 will be available in the US for a price of around $500. Until now, Giada’s products are not for sale in the Benelux, but perhaps a competitor will come onto the market here in due course with a comparable model.
