Netgear to release XR300 gaming router in April for $200
Netgear has officially introduced the Nighthawk Pro Gaming XR300. As part of the Nighthawk Pro Gaming series, this router aims to limit gaming latency when distributing wireless internet traffic. The device will be released next month for $200.
The XR300 acts as a relatively cheap model in the series, with more expensive options such as the already released XR500 and the XR700. Compared to the XR500, the new Wi-Fi router has a less pronounced appearance and less good specifications.
For example, the XR300 is equipped with a dual-core processor of 1GHz, while the XR500 has a dual-core processor that runs at 1.7GHz. The latter model has four antennas; the XR300 has to make do with one less antenna. The new dual-band router supports speeds of up to 450Mbit/s over the 2.4GHz band and up to 1300Mbit/s over 5GHz. The XR500 achieves 800Mbit/s and 1733Mbit/s respectively.
The new router is equipped with four gigabit Ethernet ports and, like the more expensive variants, has a processor on which the DumaOS dashboard runs. This monitors the network and allows users to prioritize game-related internet traffic, which should lead to lower ping and less lag. The latter is achieved by selecting game servers based on a geofilter.
The XR300 is a Wi-Fi 5 router that will hit the market mid-next month for a price of $200. It is not yet clear what the exact euro price will be.
