Netgear releases mesh system and Nighthawk router with Wi-Fi 7 support
Netgear is releasing a mesh system and router with Wi-Fi 7. The Orbi 770 mesh system and the Nighthawk RS300 router both have a 2.5Gbit/s Ethernet connection and three WiFi radio bands.
It Orbi 770 mesh system has a BE11000 speed rating and features three radio bands with a 2×2 radio configuration. This means the maximum speed is 5.8Gbit/s on 6GHz, 4.3Gbit/s on 5GHz and 688Mbit/s on 2.4GHz. The RS300 is in turn a WiFi router with a BE9300 rating. The router also features three radio bands with a 2×2 radio configuration. This means that the WiFi network offers approximately the same speeds as the Orbi 770. Only the 5GHz speeds are lower, at a maximum of 2.9Gbit/s.
Both devices have a 2.5Gbit/s WAN port. The Orbi 770 also has three 2.5Gbit/s connections on the router for the internal network. The satellites of the 770 series are each equipped with two 2.5 Gbit/s Ethernet connections. The RS300 has two 2.5Gbit/s ports and two ports with a maximum of 1Gbit/s throughput for the internal network. In addition, the router is equipped with a USB 3.0 connection of type A.
The products are already available in Netgear's online store, but the company does not say when the models will be delivered. The suggested retail price for the Orbi 770 mesh system, which consists of a router and two satellites, is $1,000. The Nighthawk RS300 router has a suggested retail price of 349 euros.
