Netflix will recommend TVs optimized for streaming

Netflix will advise consumers on which TVs they should buy if they want to use the streaming service. A logo shows in the store which TVs are recommended by Netflix.

Smart TVs that Netflix believes are best suited for the video service are identified by the “Netflix Recommended TV” logo. The service bases its choice on ‘criteria that our members have indicated as the most important’. Netflix mentions, among other things, the possibility to switch on the TV directly, load apps quickly and resume video quickly, without giving further details about the properties.

Initially, this is an initiative for the United States, but according to Netflix, manufacturers will implement the recommended features worldwide, which opens the possibility of implementing the logo in other countries. TVs from Sony, LG and Sharp, among others, will be provided with the logo, but market leader Samsung is missing from the list that Netflix publishes.
