Netflix to make drama series of The Witcher

Netflix is ​​making a drama series of The Witcher. The series is based on the books by Polish writer Andrzej Sapkowski, who also inspired the three games from development studio CD Projekt Red.

It is an English drama series. When the series will be shown on Netflix and how many episodes it consists of, has not yet been announced. The Polish company Platige Image, which specializes in digital effects, writes about the arrival of the series in a press release.

The Polish director Tomek Baginski, among others, will contribute to the creation of the series, which is based on the eight books from the saga. Writer Sapkowski says he’s happy to see a drama series that stays true to the source material and themes from his books. He has been appointed as a creative consultant for the series.

The Witcher saga is a book series by Polish author Sapkowski, which has been translated into more than twenty languages. In 2001, a Polish miniseries and a movie were made based on the books; which appeared under the name The Hexer, or in Polish Wiedzmin. In 2007, CD Projekt Red released the first game based on the saga. Three The Witcher games have been released so far, with the third coming in 2015.

At the end of 2015, there were plans for a new The Witcher movie to be released in 2017. This film would also be directed by Baginski and Platige was also involved. It is not known whether that project has been canceled due to the arrival of a drama series.
