Netflix tests variable playback speed on Android

Netflix seems to be doing a test with a variable playback speed in its Android app. This allows users to play movies and series at 1.5x the speed, for example, to shorten the time it takes to watch.

The options range from 0.5x to 1.5x, according to a screenshot that Android Police has put online. The site notes that it has only had reports of the feature in the Android app, but doesn’t rule out the test running on other platforms as well. It would be a limited test, because otherwise, according to the site, more people would have noticed.

Netflix has not confirmed the existence of the test, but there are several reports of it on social network Twitter. Netflix now does not have the option to watch series or movies in a speeded-up or slow-down mode on any platform. It is unknown if and when the feature will be available to other Netflix customers.
