Netflix starts canceling subscriptions that haven’t been used for a year

Netflix will automatically cancel subscriptions that customers do not use. The service tries to contact users who haven’t watched a year after the start of the subscription to give them the chance to keep their subscription.

The measure should prevent people from signing up and paying for something they don’t use. Anyone who has taken out a subscription but has not watched anything after a year, or who has not watched anything for two years, will receive an email or in-app notification within a week.

That message will ask if users want to keep their subscription. If this confirmation is not received, the subscription will be terminated. Netflix claims to not only want to make it easy to become a customer, but also to cancel a subscription and the company points out that users who reactivate their account within ten months will keep their settings.
