A second season of Netflix’s The Witcher is coming. So says director Lauren Schmid. That seems to indicate that the streaming service has high expectations for the series, because the first season is not yet out and no viewing figures are known yet.

There are not many details about the second season yet. “Geralt, Yennefer and Ciri return for more adventures in season two”, says the director on Twitter. The message will also be retweeted by an official Netflix account.

The first season, with eight episodes, will be available on Netflix from December 20. The series is based on the Polish writer Andrzej Sapkowski’s book series, as are CD Projekt Red’s games. The writer is involved as a consultant to the series. Actor Henry Cavill, known for his role as Superman in Man of Steel from 2013, plays lead character Geralt of Riva.
