Netflix shows a trailer for The Witcher and announces that the series can be seen from December 20. The series is based on the books of the Polish writer Andrzej Sapkowski, as are the games of CD Projekt Red.

The Netflix series will consist of eight episodes and the lead character Geralt of Rivia will be played by actor Henry Cavill, who is known for his role as Superman in the 2013 film Man of Steel. The new trailer introduces Geralt of Rivia and explains what a Witcher is.

In May 2017, it was announced that Netflix was working on a The Witcher series. Sapkowski, the author of the book series, said he was happy to see a series that stays true to the source material. He was hired as a creative consultant for the series. The Netflix series was shot in Eastern Europe, written and directed by Lauren Schmid. She previously directed the Daredevil series.
