Netflix provides iOS app with updated design and new animations
Netflix gives its iOS app a new interface. This will include a new ‘billboard’ layout and new animations. The updated app is now available. It is not known if and when the update will come to Android devices.
Netflix has been working on the new interface since last year and has now released it for iPhones, writes former Netflix developer Janum Trivedi on Twitter. According to the developer, the new design and animations should feel smoother than the old version. The developer shows a video of the updated app.
When the app is opened, a large image of a movie or series is now shown. That image is given a parallax effect, where the image shifts slightly as users move their phone back and forth. The background color of the app also adapts to the film or series shown. The app also features new animations, which can be seen when opening films and series and switching between profiles.
The changes appear to be aimed at iOS for the time being. “We recently updated the Netflix iOS app with better visuals, more responsive interactions and motion design,” a spokesperson for the streaming service confirmed to TechCrunch. It is not known whether the new interface will also come to Android and when.
