Netflix is ending support for 2010 and 2012 Apple TV models
Netflix will end support for second- and third-generation Apple TV models on July 31. These are both over a decade old and Apple has stopped supporting these models for quite some time.
Netflix has announced in an email to users of the Apple TV models that support is being discontinued “to continue providing the best possible viewing experience.” This concerns the second and third versions of the media players, which were released in 2010 and 2012 respectively.
Both models predate tvOS and its App Store, so came with a selection of pre-installed apps. Apple last released the third-generation Apple TV update in 2016. The streaming service remains available on the 2015 Apple TV HD and Apple TV 4K models.
