Netflix Enables 1080p Streams on iPhone 6 Plus

Netflix shows videos on the iPhone 6 Plus from now on in 1080p image resolution. Also, the interface of the app is now optimized for the larger screens of the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus, the video streaming service has announced.

Movies and series could already be viewed in 1080p format via the Android app, but this is now also possible when using the iOS app on the iPhone 6 Plus. Netflix does not specify the maximum bitrate it supports with 1080p content. It is unclear whether these are ‘Super HD’ streams from Netflix, which offer a higher bit rate of up to 7Mbit/s.

In addition to the 1080p streams, the new version of the Netflix app includes an updated interface, which shows a larger overview of movies and series on both the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus. The performance of the app has also improved, Netflix promises.
