NEC to integrate Raspberry Pis in certain monitors
NEC will integrate the Raspberry Pi 3 minicomputer into the company’s larger monitors. With this, NEC wants to market screens that are easy to use for presentations and as digital billboards.
In addition to models that come with an integrated Raspberry Pi 3, the Japanese company is also working on versions with a ‘customized’ computer module, which ‘meet the requirements of the display industry’. However, NEC does not provide further details about the changes.
The Raspberry Pi-capable displays fall within the company’s P and V product ranges. These are usually screens of 40″ or larger that are intended to serve as a digital advertising or information board and to be on day and night.
NEC currently also has two desktop monitors in the P-series, so for those who want such a device on their desk, there may still be hope. However, it is not yet clear what the formats will be for the new models with Raspberry Pi 3 integration.
