Naughty Dog recruits new employees for its first standalone multiplayer game
Game studio Naughty Dog is working on a standalone multiplayer game and has published several job openings for it. The game aims to provide a ‘inter-player cinematic experience’. The company has not yet shared any details about the upcoming game.
Naughty Dog reports on Twitter that it is seeking collaborators for its upcoming multiplayer title, across divisions. This concerns a total of twelve vacancies, divided over five different departments. This makes the upcoming multiplayer game the centerpiece of this new recruiting campaign. The company is looking for AI and UI programmers, visual effects artists, level designers and monetization and economy designers, among others. However, some of these vacancies appear to have been open for several months, GamesRadar also notes.
The Last of Us creator shares few details about the upcoming game. On careers pages, Naughty Dog reports that it wants to bring “the same level of ambition and quality” of its previous games to the multiplayer project. Co-game director Vinit Agarwal also speaks on Twitter about a ‘cinematic experience’. “We’re recruiting aggressively. Apply if you’d like to be a part of bringing the cinematic experience between players in our new standalone multiplayer action game.”
Naughty Dog has admitted in the past that it is working on a multiplayer game. Previous games from the studio have had multiplayer modes, although The Last of Us Part II’s Factions multiplayer mode was deleted. When the company announced it, it said players will “eventually reap the rewards” of Naughty Dog’s multiplayer ambitions, “but not as part of The Last of Us Part II.” In April, Bloomberg journalist Jason Schreier reported that an unannounced Naughty Dog multiplayer game is being joined by Days Gone developer Sony Bend. It is not yet known when the title will be released.
