NATO sites suffer from DDO attacks
NATO websites have been dealing with a DDOs attack since Saturday. Several of the organization’s sites are unreachable. A Ukrainian group identifying as Cyber Berkut is behind the attacks.
With the DDOs attack, Cyber Berkut wants to protest against NATO meddling in Ukraine. The group, which is a reference to the Ukrainian riot police that was disbanded after the events in Kiev’s Maidan Square, confirms that it operates the websites http://ccdcoe.org, http://nato.int and http:// nato-pa.int attacked. Cyber Berkut warns that NATO should not initiate military intervention in Ukraine.
The group states that the DDOs attacks have since ceased. At the time of writing, the main NATO website http://nato.int is available again, but the other two sites are not yet available. NATO is not the only organization under digital attack. Websites of the Kremlin, the Russian central bank and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs were also offline for some time, Nu.nl reports. Websites that support Putin’s policies also suffer from DDOs attacks.
