NATO houses digital department in The Hague

NATO will house all its digital activities in The Hague. This is the department that regulates, among other things, the digital security of NATO’s own networks. Between 50 and 100 extra NATO employees will be deployed in The Hague.

The 50 to 100 extra NATO employees will be housed in The Hague sometime in the next two years, the FD writes. NATO has confirmed the arrival of the digital department to that newspaper. It is not yet clear what exactly the digital department will do in addition to securing its own networks.

NATO would have chosen The Hague because there are many international organizations involved in security, including Europol, the European police organisation. Eurojust, which allows the public prosecutors of the various EU countries to work together, is also located in The Hague. The large number of companies involved in digital security would also be a reason.
