The website of the National Government is currently unreachable. The problems started shortly after Prime Minister Rutte’s speech on December 14 and are caused by crowds, according to the national government.

The National Government confirms on Twitter that the website is ‘currently less accessible due to crowds’. So it does not seem to be a DDOS attack. The outage also only includes the website of the National Government; other government services and websites are still accessible.

The accessibility problems started shortly after Prime Minister Rutte’s speech, in which a new, stricter lockdown was announced due to the corona pandemic. After the speech, the national government published more information about this lockdown on its website. An overview of the new measures is now available also on Twitter.

Update, 9:17 PM: The website now seems to be available again. The national government has not yet responded.
