NAD introduces 7.1 AV receiver
Audio equipment manufacturer NAD has introduced a new AV receiver. The NAD T 748 can drive 7.1 channel audio, with 40W available per channel. In a stereo setup, 80W is available per audio channel.
The NAD T 748 AV receiver features four HDMI 1.4 inputs and an HDMI 1.4 port for connecting to a TV. The latter is compatible with Audio Return Channel. The receiver can pass 3D content to the TV. The T 748 can actively drive seven audio channels, while a pre-out output is available for the subwoofer.
The AV receiver also has three analog audio outputs, two composite video connections, an S-Video connector and a component video input. The T 748 is also equipped with two optical and two coaxial S/PDIF connections. The receiver also has connections for a dab tuner module and an iPod dock. With the latter, information of the music tracks is shown in the display of the receiver.
The latest NAD surround receiver has five AV presets, with which, for example, settings for the speakers and surround modes can be arranged per source, and the option to name the inputs. The T 748 supports Dolby TrueHD and DTS Master Audio, while stereo sound can be converted to surround sound via NAD’s Ears mode.
NAD specifies a power of 80W per stereo channel according to the FTC method, while according to the company when driving all seven channels simultaneously, 40W per channel can be counted on. This is based on NAD’s Full Disclosure Power measurement method. The receiver can handle peaks of 110W with stereo sound with 8 Ohm, while 160W is available with 4 Ohm. In idle mode, the T 748 consumes approximately 50W according to specification.
The NAD T 748 is available immediately, for a price of approximately $900.
