Publisher Nacon shares the first gameplay trailer for the upcoming shooter RoboCop: Rogue City. The game will be released in June of 2023 for the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and for PC via Steam.

In RoboCop: Rogue City, the player takes control of the titular character, who must secure the streets of a crime-ridden Detroit. RoboCop doesn’t just have to deal with dystopian criminals in the game; he also seems to be having issues internally, as evidenced by the end of the trailer. The part-human, part-robotic agent hesitated in a life-threatening situation because of a glitch, something that shouldn’t happen to RoboCop.

That’s a theme that also appears in the three original films from the ’80s and ’90s. RoboCop, initially a normal human named Alex Murphy, is beaten and killed by criminals before Omni Consumer Products transforms him into the super robot. His old identity, on the other hand, always haunts him.

The protagonist from the first two films, Peter Weller, also returns. The now 75-year-old American actor played Alex Murphy and the robotic agent in Paul Verhoeven’s RoboCop and RoboCop 2 directed by Irvin Kershner.

The game is being developed by Teyon, a Polish developer who is not making a game based on an action hero from the 1980s for the first time. The company previously made Terminator: Resistance and Rambo: The Video Game.
