Music player Neil Young hits Kickstarter goal
Neil Young’s prism-shaped music player has met its goal on Kickstarter. This means that the music player will probably be on the market this fall. Young promises better quality for music with the player.
The PonoPlayer reached its goal of 800,000 dollars in one day, converted around 580,000 euros, thanks to 3165 people who have expressed their support through a contribution. A large number of them have put down a lot of money to actually get the music player. The counter is now slightly above a million dollars, around 720,000 euros, with more than a month to go with the crowdfunding campaign.
The music player aims to distinguish itself by playing audio in good quality and comes with a music store where users can purchase digital songs with 24bit audio at 192KHz in flac format. The music player can also play music files in other formats for compatibility reasons.
The music player itself is shaped like a prism. The player is available in multiple colors, has three simple control buttons and is equipped with an LCD touchscreen. At the top are two audio interfaces and at the bottom is a USB port and there is also support for memory cards. During the development, PonoMusic collaborated with the American audio technology manufacturer Ayre and the player would include the ESS ES9018 dac.
