The municipality of Deurne in the province of North Brabant is getting a fiber optic network. Network operator E-Fiber says the first work on the glass to be installed will start in the second quarter of 2019.

E-Fiber reports on its website that the enthusiasm was great, but says nothing about the percentage of households that have signed up for fiber optic. As a result, it is not clear what percentage of households in the municipality has signed up for the construction and whether the registration threshold has actually been met. Incidentally, this was thirty percent, while a threshold of fifty percent is used for most regional fiber optic projects.

The shovel will go into the ground sometime in the second quarter of this year, after which the work will probably take a year and a half, reports the Eindhovens Dagblad. During the period in which the network is being installed, approximately 15,000 households in Deurne will be provided with a fiber optic connection. The providers Trined, Tweak, SNLR, Multifiber and Glasnet will offer subscriptions.
