Multiple processor cooler manufacturers offer AM4 conversion kits
Several processor cooler manufacturers have indicated that they are making upgrade kits available for people building a new system around the AM4 socket. Among these companies are Noctua, Corsair and Arctic.
The German website ComputerBase has compiled an overview of the companies that are giving away the upgrade kits. Corsair has told the website that both the Hydro H60 and H100 already fit on the AM4 socket. The company is working on brackets for the other models, but doesn’t say if they will be available for free.
Arctic indicates that the majority of its coolers already fit on AM4 motherboards. The Freezer 12 and Freezer 33 will not fit yet, but owners of the coolers can obtain an upgrade kit from Arctic. Some older models do not fit the socket and are no longer supported. This includes the Freezer A20, A11 and A32. In the Liquid Freezer series, only second-generation models fit on the sockets. The first generation is no longer supported.
Noctua promises that conversion kits will be available for all coolers sold since 2005, with the exception of the NH-L9i. The kits are free, provided the user can present proof of purchase. Without this proof, the kits cost 7.90 euros. Enermax will provide free AM4 kits for eight coolers, including models from the ETS-T50 AX and ETS-T40F series. Users must be able to hand over their receipt.
Last Thursday, be quiet announced that it would provide upgrade kits for several coolers. ComputerBase indicates that the site has requested information from multiple manufacturers and will update its article as more responses come in. Manufacturers that are still conspicuously missing are Scythe and Cooler Master.
