‘Multiplayer game Crucible from Amazon studio should be released next month’
Multiplayer game Crucible from Amazon studio Relentless should be released next month, The New York Times writes. In addition, the company wants to unveil Project Tempo, its answer to Google Stadia and GeForce Now, this year, but that may not be possible due to the corona virus.
Very little has been announced about the game. Crucible will be a third-person, team-based multiplayer shooter that borrows elements from League of Legends and Dota 2. Older marketing material also speaks of a “dangerous game world that requires players to work together” and “alliances that can be broken at any time.” There would be 12 players in a game and a thirteenth player acts as a kind of game master, setting up events in the world and also interacting with streaming audiences. Furthermore, there is a cached version of the official product page that paints the same picture, but all in all the picture is far from complete. A price and platforms for Crucible are unknown.
The New York Times writes less about Project Tempo. The project has not yet been officially announced, but sources from the American newspaper state that the intention is to unveil the service this year. However, the course of the corona pandemic could throw a spanner in the works, so a shift to 2021 is currently not ruled out.
Also scheduled for May is the release of New World, from another Amazon subsidiary. However, that was already known. That will be a fantasy mmo that will be released exclusively for PCs. New World can be played solo and in a team. The game features battles with up to 100 players and NPCs, and up to a thousand players can be active per server. There will also be a progression system, but there are no classes.
