MSI has released the specifications of its GT80 Titan laptop. This laptop has a mechanical keyboard with Cherry MX switches and is optionally supplied with two GTX 980M video cards in sli setup.

MSI announced the GT80 Titan in October, but other than the laptop featuring a keyboard with Cherry MX Brown switches, not much detail came out. However, at the start of the CES 2015 show in Las Vegas, MSI announced that the GT80 Titan will have an i7-4980HQ quadcore from Intel’s Haswell generation.

In addition, there will be several GPU configurations, including one with two GTX 980M video cards with also two 8GB gddr5. The video cards are MXM modules and MSI promises that those parts are relatively easy to upgrade. The memory and storage components are also easily accessible by removing the plate above the keyboard. The cooling consists of two Cooling Boost 3 fans and eight heat pipes.

Despite the amount of graphical power, the 18.4″ screen shows a resolution of 1920×1080 pixels. Many high-end laptops have a higher resolution these days. According to AnandTech, it is a pls panel, Samsung’s version of ips.

MSI also provides the laptop with 24GB DDR3 memory, made up of three 8GB so-dimm strips, with space for an extra memory strip. As far as storage capacity is concerned, there are two msata ssds with a capacity of 128GB, which are placed in raid0. A total of four msata ssds can be placed. In addition, there is a HDD with a rotation speed of 7200rpm and a capacity of 1TB.

The laptop will start at $3299, according to Pc Perspective, while a more expensive version will be available in the US for $3499. In Europe, prices will therefore probably exceed 3300 euros.
