MSI shows PCIe 5.0 SSDs in Spatium M570 series with read speeds up to 12GB/s
MSI announced its first two PCIe 5.0 SSDs at CES in Las Vegas. The Spatium M570 and M570 Pro achieve sequential read speeds of 10 and 12GB/s respectively, according to MSI. The SSDs will appear in the second quarter of this year.
The Spatium M570 and M570 Pro are both based on Phison’s E26 controller, writes Tom’s Hardware. The Pro variant has newer 232-layer memory from Micron, which means that it should reach higher speeds. MSI states that this SSD can achieve read and write speeds of 12 and 10GB/s. The ‘regular’ Spatium M570 has older TLC-nand and thus achieves read speeds of up to 10GB/s, in addition to the same 10GB/s write speed of the Pro variant.
During a demo at CES, the M570 Pro achieved sequential read and write speeds of 12,342 and 11,814MB/s respectively. The SSD was tested in combination with an AMD Ryzen 9 7950X CPU and an MSI X670E Carbon motherboard. The drive was also shown in an MSI Raider GE78HX laptop, with write speeds dropping to 8972MB/s. MSI is not sharing details about random read and write speeds at this time. MSI did not demo the Spatium M570.
The two SSDs will both be available in variants with 1TB, 2TB and 4TB storage capacity. According to MSI, this will happen in the second quarter of 2023. The manufacturer does not share a more concrete release date and does not yet mention recommended prices.
