MSI Releases Portable 240Hz Display

MSI has developed a portable screen with a refresh rate of 240Hz. When the Taiwanese company will bring the Optix MAG161 to the market is not yet known, but the arrival has been revealed because the product has won a CES Award.

From the name Optix MAG161 it can be concluded that it is a screen with a diagonal of 16 inches. MSI itself reports that the panel is of the IPS type and that it has a thickness of 5 millimeters. It’s not the first portable monitor with a 240Hz refresh rate: Earlier this year, Asus announced the Strix XG17 with a 17.3″ screen and also a 240Hz refresh rate.

The variant of MSI contains a USB-C and HDMI connection. While the high refresh rate probably appeals to gamers in particular, the company is also targeting business users. This is apparent from the product page of the CES Awards 2020. Further details, such as a price and release date, are not yet available. Those are likely to follow sometime in the coming months. The CES electronics show will take place in Las Vegas in early January.
