MSI releases Alpha 15 laptop with RX 5500M GPU in the Benelux for 1249 euros

MSI announces that it will release the Alpha 15 laptop in the Benelux countries for a price of 1249 euros. This laptop has a Ryzen 7 processor and the Radeon RX 5500M presented on Monday. The laptop should be available at the end of this month.

The Alpha 15 comes with a Ryzen 7 3750H processor in combination with an RX 5500M with 4GB of GDDR6 memory. The 15.6″ IPS panel has a resolution of 1920×1080 pixels and comes in two variants, with refresh rates of 120 or 144Hz, with FreeSync supported in both cases.

On Monday, AMD presented the RX 5500M, the first Navi video card for laptops. The specifications are almost entirely identical to the regular desktop version. The memory does not go beyond 4GB and the clock speeds are lower, bringing the TDP to 85w.

In terms of RAM, the Alpha 15 has support for up to 16GB of DDR4 memory and there is room for an NVME SSD in the m2-2280 form factor with a maximum of 512GB and a 2.5″ HDD. a redesigned module with seven heatpipes applied.

Two versions will be released, with the base model getting the 120Hz screen with a single-zone keyboard backlight. The mentioned price of 1249 euros in the Benelux probably belongs to the more expensive version with the 144Hz screen, where the RGB backlight can be set per key. The Alpha 15 weighs 2.3kg and measures 35.8×24.8×2.75cm.
