MSI puts Kaby Lake processors in existing gaming laptops

MSI has announced that it is equipping several gaming laptops with Kaby Lake processors. There are also some new models with a GTX 1050 or 1050 ti-gpu. The top model has the fastest processor, a Core i7-7920HQ.

For the majority of laptops, the Skylake processor is replaced by a Kaby Lake model in the same class. For example, the models that had a Core i7-6700HQ are equipped with a 7700HQ. The top model, the 18″ GT83VR, can be supplied with a Core i7-7920HQ, which runs at 3.1GHz and has a turbo frequency of 4.1GHz. The large laptop with mechanical keyboard and two GeForce GTX 1080 GPUs is available on this currently equipped with an i7-6920HQ.

Furthermore, for various models that were delivered with a GTX 960M, a version with GTX 1050 GPU will be available. Other specifications, such as RAM, screen and storage remain unchanged. MSI only talks about upgrades on its gaming laptops. Laptops in the Prestige line are not mentioned.

MSI has not announced to what extent the new processors and GPUs will affect the prices. Also, no date has been announced when the laptops will be on the shelves.
