MSI presents Cubi 2 mini PC with Kaby Lake processor
MSI has presented the Cubi 2. The successor to the Cubi mini PC comes in a chassis with the same compact form factor, but has a different layout in terms of connections and comes with Intel Kaby Lake instead of Broadwell processors.
The housing of the mini PC measures 11.5 x 11.1 cm, is stated on the product page of MSI, just like the previous Cubi. The HDD version is 4.3 cm thick, the SSD version reduces that to 3.2 cm. Depending on the variant, the PC will receive a Core i3, i5 or i7 of the Kaby Lake U generation. These are economical mobile processors with a TDP of 15W. The previous Cubi had Broadwell-U chips. The Cubi 2 PC comes in configurations with up to 32GB of DDR4 memory and with an M2 or SATA SSD, or a SATA HDD.
The connections have been changed compared to the previous version. The PC has a USB 3.0 port on the front, supplemented by a USB 3.1 gen. 1 type-c variant, which the previous Cubi did not have. At the back are two more USB 3.0 connections via traditional USB-a ports. There are also connections for HDMI, mini-displayport and Ethernet via RJ45. The Cube 2 Mini will appear in black and white. There is no word yet on a price or release date.
