Several AMD partners have announced their 8GB versions of the Radeon R9 290X graphics card with a 512-bit memory bus. MSI, Club 3D and PowerColor, among others, come up with such a card with 8GB gddr5, which could be used mainly for displaying 4k images.

With a GPU clock of 1030MHz, the Club 3D R9 290X 8GB royalAce has a slightly higher clock speed than the standard version of the 290X, which runs at 1GHz. The memory also runs slightly faster than normal at 5500MHz. Club 3D equips the card with its Coolstream cooler with three fans and five copper heatpipes. According to the manufacturer, it is not a gimmick, but 8GB gddr5 would be needed to properly run the upcoming games with all their eye candy in 4k. Club 3D says it can release the card in a limited edition.

The R9 290X Gaming 8G card from MSI couples the amount of 8GB of memory to a GPU with a clock speed of up to 1040MHz, while the memory runs at 5500MHz. The manufacturer equips the video card with its Twin Frozr IV cooler with two fans, which would have been specially adapted for the video card and therefore bears the designation ‘Advanced’.

Finally, PowerColor has announced its PCS+ R9 290X. The card has a GPU clock speed of 1030MHz and the memory clock speed is 5500MHz. The card carries a PCS+ cooler with three fans, two sets of aluminum fins, and five heatpipes. PowerColor provides the graphics card, just like MSI and Club 3D, with two DL-DVI-D outputs, HDMI and Displayport.

There are also indications that XFX will release a version of the R9 290X. However, the manufacturer has not yet announced it at the time of writing. Earlier this year, Sapphire released the Radeon R9 290X Vapor-X with 8GB gddr5 in a limited edition. The manufacturer is now re-releasing that card.
