MSI Introduces Thin 14″ and 15.6″ Laptops with Intel Comet Lake Processors

MSI announces three laptops that will be equipped with Intel’s new frugal Comet Lake processors. It concerns the Modern 14, and the Prestige 14 and 15. The Prestige models come with a maximum of a GTX 1650 Max-Q GPU, with the Modern 14 that is an MX250.

MSI’s new laptops are largely based on existing variants, but the names have been changed and they feature Intel’s new Comet Lake processors. The Modern 14 is the successor to the PS42 Modern that came out last year. The Prestige 15 is based on the PS63 Modern. The Prestige 14 is a new model that looks a lot like the 15 variant, but has a smaller screen.

The Comet Lake processors are 15W CPUs of which the top model, the Core i7-10710U, has six cores. MSI does not yet say which CPUs will be in the laptops, but does mention that they will contain up to a Core i7 of the tenth generation. The Comet Lake series also consists of i3 dual cores and i5 quad cores.

The Prestige models contain a maximum of a 4k screen, a GTX 1650 Max-Q video card and the storage consists of m2 SSDs. The Prestige 14 has 16GB lpddr3 memory that is soldered to the motherboard. The Prestige 15 has two memory slots that hold a maximum of 64GB DDR4-2666, the Modern 14 has one slot for a maximum of 32GB DDR4-2666.

It is not yet known which configurations MSI will release in the Benelux. There are also no details on when they will be released or how much they will cost. The Taiwanese laptop manufacturer is going to show the laptops at the IFA fair that takes place in Berlin at the beginning of September.
