MSI Introduces New Leopard and Ghost Gaming Laptops
MSI has announced three new gaming laptops. Both the GS60 Ghost, which was spotted earlier, as well as the GP60 and GP70 will receive Nvidia GeForce cards of the new generation. The GS60 Ghost is the new flagship, with a resolution of 2880×1620 pixels.
MSI showed the GS60 Ghost at the beginning of March at Cebit, but now all details of the gaming laptop are known. It is a 15.6 “laptop that comes in variants with a matte full-HD screen or IPS screen with a resolution of 2880×1620 pixels. The processor is a Core i7-4700HQ, there is a maximum of 16GB DDR3 memory and as far as storage is concerned, there is a duo of M.2 SSDs in raid setup with a storage capacity of 520GB, supplemented by a 1TB HDD.
Like many MSI gaming laptops, the keyboard is SteelSeries and features colored backlighting. The network card is the Killer E2200, and there are hdmi 1.4 and mini-displayport 1.2 available. It is striking that the video card with which MSI equips the laptop is the GTX 870M or the GTX 860M and not the fastest card from the new series: the GTX 880M. Maybe this is to keep the thickness at 19.9mm. Prices start at 1499 euros and the maximum price of the laptop is 2199 euros, depending on the configuration.
In addition, the company comes with the GP60 and GP70 in the Leopard series. These are 15.6″ and 17.3″ laptops respectively, which are thicker and heavier than the GS60, and also feature less powerful hardware, but will likely also be cheaper.
There will be configurations with resolutions of 1366×768 pixels on the 15.6″ model or 1600×900 pixels on the 17.3″ device, but both laptops can also be equipped with a matte full-HD screen. The video card is the GT 840M, which offers considerably lower performance than the GPUs of the GS60, but should also be a lot more economical thanks to the new Maxwell architecture. The laptops also have a SteelSeries keyboard and a Killer E2200 ethernet card, and can also be equipped with SSDs. MSI has not yet announced the prices.
