MSI Introduces Compact Cubi 5 Computers With Comet Lake CPUs
MSI has upgraded its compact Cubi computers with 10th generation Intel Core CPUs. The Cubi 5 10M PCs have a size of 124 by 124 millimeters, and are 53.7 millimeters high. The computer can be mounted on the back of a monitor or television via a vesa mount.
The Cubi 5 10M comes with up to an ‘Intel Core i7 U processor’, but the exact model is not mentioned. The Intel Core i7-10710U, currently the highest ranked mobile processor from Intel, has 6 cores and 12 threads. The compact computer may therefore contain a hexacore CPU, but this is not explicitly stated. The mini PC uses the integrated Intel GPU. The computers support a maximum of 64GB of DDR4-2666 memory divided over two Sodimm slots. The Cubi 5 10M also offers space for an m2 SSD and a 2.5″ drive.
MSI mentions that the mini PCs support standard vesa mounts, allowing the computers to be mounted on the back of many monitors and televisions. MSI also sells an optional external on/off button, which should make it easier to turn on a mounted Cubi PC.
The Cubi 5 10M has four usb 3.2 gen 1 ports, one of which has a usb-c connection. It should be mentioned here that usb 3.2 gen 1 is actually just the old usb 3.0 standard under a new name. The computer contains a single Ethernet connection, an HDMI 1.4 port and a displayport 1.2 connection. The device also has two 3.5mm jacks: one for speakers or headphones, and the other for a microphone. The computer can be equipped with an 802.11ac or 802.11ax radio for Wi-Fi support. It is not yet known when the compact computers will be released in the Benelux. The prices are also unknown.
