MSI is in the process of upgrading its existing line of gaming laptops to the Intel Skylake platform. In addition to the processor upgrade, the laptops also receive other upgrades, such as better monitors and newer graphics cards, such as the GeForce GTX 980M and 970M.

That writes MSI Germany. The laptops to be upgraded are the GT72 Dominator Pro G, the GS70 Stealth, the GS60 Ghost, and the GE62 and GE72 Apache Pro. In addition to the GeForce video cards, all Core i7 laptops will have DDR4 memory and SteelSeries keyboards with RGB-LED key lighting. The sound is processed by Nahimic audio software.

In addition to things like self-tinting keyboard lighting, a so-called USB ‘SuperPort’ has also been added to the GTT72 and GS60. The SuperPort is not only USB 3.1 with an output of up to 3 amps, but also a Thunderbolt 3 port. As a result, two UHD monitors can be controlled and data transfer speeds of more than 800MB/s must be achieved.

Prices are not yet known, but the models should be available from September 27, although various sources report that they have already appeared on the market in Asia.
