MSI Announces Nine H170 and B150 Gamers Motherboards
MSI has announced new models in the Gaming series of its H170 and B150 line. The high-end ‘enthusiastic’ boards are the H170 Gaming M3 and the B150 Gaming M3. The company also releases gamerboards with Intel’s B150 chipset for moba gamers.
Manufacturers previously released their Z170 motherboards and now other boards based on the Series 100 chipset for Skylake follow. MSI focuses on gamers, among others, and releases nine boards for them. Compared to Z170, H170 lacks support for overclocking and there are also sixteen instead of twenty PCI-e 3.0 lanes, but much of the functionality is similar. The B150 chipset has to do with eight PCI-e 3.0 lanes.
For its Enthusiastic segment, MSI has the H170 Gaming M3 and the B150 Gaming M3 and these include Killer E2400 Ethernet cards. The H170A Gaming Pro and the B150A Gaming Pro do get LED lighting whose colors can be adjusted, but they appear in the Performance series and have to make do with Intel’s gigabit LAN. Slightly lower on the ladder are the B150M Night Elf, B150M Mortar, B150M Bazooka and B150M Bazooka D3 and MSI is targeting moba gamers.
