Mozilla has updated the WebThings Gateway software for the Raspberry Pi so that the internet-of-things gateway now also supports thermostats and smart locks.
The update brings WebThings Gateway to version 0.1. WebThings Gateway is Mozilla’s smart home gateway software distribution that allows users to monitor and manage components of their smart home. The now updated software is the version for the Raspberry Pi, the software for the Turris Omnia is still at version 0.9.2.
Added support for smart thermostats such as the Zigbee Zen Thermostat, the Centralite HA 3156105 and the Z-Wave Honeywell TH8320ZW1000. Among other things, users can set the temperature remotely and set rules for temperature adjustments.
As for smart locks, there is now support for Zigbee and Z-Wave locks such as the Yale YRD226 Deadbolt and Yale YRD110 Deadbolt. Users can close and open locks remotely and also use the rules engine here for rules, such as opening locks at certain times.
