Mozilla shows iPad browser Junior
Mozilla has unveiled the iPad Junior browser for the first time, as an alternative to the mobile version of Safari with no tabs and virtually no visible interface. All functions are hidden behind a few buttons on the side of the screen.
Junior should also offer the possibility to create accounts for each user of the tablet, something the mobile version of Safari does not support. Junior isn’t out yet; Mozilla is working on it, but hasn’t announced a concrete release date yet, reports The Verge.
The interface only shows the page and no address bar, tabs or interface buttons. A new url can be entered by pressing a Plus sign on the side. This button brings the user to an overview of recently opened pages, an address bar and favorites. There are also some functions under the button, such as printing. The other button in the interface is a back button. Below that are also a forward and a reload button.
Firefox’s rendering engine on desktops cannot be included; Apple requires that every browser on iOS uses the same engine, namely that of the mobile Safari. Mozilla didn’t have a browser for iOS and works for several months to Junior.
