Mozilla releases Firefox update to fix Avast issues
Mozilla has released version 105.0.3 of Firefox. This update aims to resolve issues that arose with Avast antivirus software. According to a Mozilla developer, thousands of Firefox users experienced problems.
Mozilla Developer Gabriele Svelto poses on Twitter that Avast’s antivirus software considers a particular part of the browser, the Mercurial executable, to be ransomware. This caused Avast to terminate browsing activities, resulting in a crash for many Firefox users. According to the man, thousands of Firefox users also thought that the problem was with Mozilla’s software.
Mozilla has meanwhile released an update for Firefox, version 105.0.3. This version of the browser is said to fix the issue with Avast. At the time of writing, antivirus company Avast has not yet responded to the incident.
