Mozilla Releases Firefox for Amazon Fire TV with YouTube Support
Mozilla has released its Firefox browser for Amazon’s Fire TV platform. Fire TV set-top box users will have access to video site YouTube again, something Google shut down earlier this year.
Mozilla says in its announcement that Firefox for Fire TV will allow users to watch full-screen YouTube videos. That stands out, because Amazon and Google are engaged in a battle about it. The search giant blocked its video site on Fire TV in November. In the meantime, both companies are in talks about the conflict and Amazon put Google’s HDMI dongle Chromecast back in the web store.
Firefox has appeared in the Amazon Appstore in the United States. It is unknown if and when the browser for Amazon’s platform will appear in other countries. It is the first browser for the American web store’s set-top box.
