Mozilla implements Pocket and screen sharing in Firefox
Mozilla released a new version of Firefox on Tuesday. The web browser now includes the option to save pages in the ‘read later’ service Pocket. The so-called Reader View has also been overhauled.
Pocket allows you to save links to articles, videos, and websites for later use. Firefox previously offered integration with the service through an add-on, but now Mozilla has added Pocket as a permanent feature. For now, the feature, which is part of Firefox Accounts, is only available in the English, Japanese, German, Russian, and Spanish versions of the browser.
In addition, Mozilla has overhauled the so-called Reader View for the most recent stable version, 38.0.5. With this functionality, articles on sites can be displayed in a simplified manner, which would make it easier to read. Mozilla has slightly improved the appearance of Reader View for articles, according to the release notes.
Mozilla also announces that Hello has been expanded. The video chat service, introduced a few versions back, allows users to make phone calls and video calls from the browser. In the latest release, Firefox has added ‘screen sharing’. This feature allows users to share a tab or a screen during a video chat.
Finally, Mozilla reports that the Firefox Developer Edition, a version of the browser specifically aimed at web developers, has received an update. For example, new tools have been added to make it easier to build websites and web apps, which are described in a blog post. This includes a graphical representation of events in an application.
