Lenovo will stop making new models of smartwatches for the time being. Lenovo’s subsidiary Motorola has released some of the best-known watches with Android Wear with the Moto 360 line, but feels there is currently too little demand to continue.

A CEO of Lenovo’s subsidiary Motorola says that the brand will not release a new watch early next year with the release of Android Wear 2.0, writes The Verge. “Wearables don’t appeal to us enough to build one every year,” said Moto’s Shakil Barkat. Lenovo had previously confirmed that there would be no new Moto watch in 2016.

Barkat does not rule out the possibility of Moto watches appearing again in the distant future. “We believe that the wrist has value and there will come a point in the future when they will have more value to consumers than they do now.”

Motorola was the first manufacturer to release a round smartwatch with Android Wear with the Moto 360 in 2014. Then new models came in 2015, in various designs and sizes. However, the market for smartwatches did not grow nearly as fast as manufacturers had expected and a new watch with Android Wear appeared this fall: the Asus Zenwatch 3. Many consumers opt for cheaper products such as fitness bracelets. Pioneer Pebble may disappear from the market entirely if Fitbit takes over the ailing company.
