Motorola will not update Moto G 2015 and month-old Moto E3 to Android 7
Motorola has announced which phones will receive the upgrade to Android 7.0. The oldest phones on the list are the 2015 Moto X series and the Nexus 6. The 2015 Moto G and the recently released third-generation Moto E are missing.
In the list that Motorola posted on its blog, the manufacturer mentions fifteen phones, including many variants of the same devices. The list includes all variants of the Moto G4, all variants of the 2015 Moto X, all versions of the Moto Z and the Nexus 6.
Motorola writes that the rollout will start before the end of this year with the Moto Z and the Moto G4. The Nexus 6 has already received the update to Nougat on Tuesday. When the update will come out to the variants of the Moto X from 2015 has not been told.
The Moto E3 is missing from the list. Motorola has made a name for itself with a relatively good update policy in the past, when it was still owned by Google. However, the company made headlines a year ago because the Moto E 2015 would not be in the list for Android 6, despite the company previously giving the idea that the phone would receive the update. The phone had already received the update from Android 5.0 to 5.1. In the end, the smartphone did receive an update to Android 6, but now it’s over: the Moto E 2015 will not get Android 7.
Now the manufacturer is taking it a step further by not offering the update to the third generation Moto E, which came on the market in September. Android 7.0 came out in August.
