Lenovo has scheduled an event on August 2 to announce new Motorola hardware. According to the company, it is a smartphone that enables a ‘new way to connect’.

The event will take place on August 2 in the American city of Chicago, the manufacturer reports in the description of the teaser on YouTube. Motorola specifically says it’s a “big announcement.” Say hello to a new way to connect, stream, download, video chat and more.

There are several smartphones in the rumor circuit that Lenovo has not yet announced. For example, there would be a Motorola One series with Android One, with the One Power as the most luxurious variant. There is also a Moto Z3 Play, but there are no other Z3 variants yet.

The text may refer to an upcoming 5G Moto Mod, a mod that would make Moto Z phones compatible with a 5G network. The American carriers Verizon and AT&T want to start offering 5G this year. They use the 28GHz band for that, which allows for high speeds with low latency. This requires larger antennas than currently fit in smartphones.
