Motorola introduces One Macro smartphone with macro camera

Motorola has proposed the One Macro. The new smartphone owes its name to the macro camera that allows recordings from just two centimeters away. It is not yet clear whether and when the device will come to the Benelux.

The macro camera is one of three cameras on the back of the Motorola One Macro. Behind the lens is a 2 megapixel sensor with a pixel size of 1.75 µm. Because the subject is photographed very close in macro mode, a ‘natural bokeh effect’ would be created in the background.

For normal photos, the One Macro has a 13-megapixel camera with an f2.0 lens and a pixel size of 1.2µm. This camera is assisted by a laser autofocus system and can also record 1080p video at 60fps, or at 120fps in slow motion. The third and final camera is a 2 megapixel depth sensor that assists the user in taking portraits. A zoom lens is missing on the One Macro, but there is a Hi-Res Zoom mode in which multiple frames are combined to improve the quality of the digital zoom.

The device is powered by a MediaTek Helio P70 chipset with four Cortex-A73 cores and four Cortex-A53 cores, in addition to a Mali G73 MP3 GPU. The smartphone also has a Max Vision HD+ LCD of 720×1520 pixels with an aspect ratio of 19.5:9 and a diagonal of 6.2 inches. The water drop houses an 8-megapixel selfie camera with an f2.2 lens and a pixel size of 1.12 µm.

According to GsmArena, the One Macro is currently only available in a Space Blue model with 4GB ram and 64GB storage capacity. The user can expand the memory via a micro SD card or use the card slot for a second SIM card. The 4000mAh battery can be charged via USB-C and the operating system is a modified version of Android 9 Pie.

The Moto One Macro will first be launched in India on October 12, where the device will receive a price of 9999 rupees or converted and with VAT 155 euros. The worldwide introduction is planned for October 24, but a spokesperson for Motorola could not yet confirm whether the One Macro will also come to the Benelux.
