Motorola shows in a video how it can wirelessly charge a smartphone at a distance of one meter from the charging station. The company calls its wireless charging technology Motorola One Hyper.

Motorola demonstrates in a video on Weibo how two smartphones charge wirelessly from a fairly compact charging station. One smartphone is eighty centimeters from the charger and another one hundred centimeters from the station.

The smartphones have a direct field of view to the charger and an employee holds his hand in front of the device to show that the charging stops as soon as the line-of-sight is interrupted.

Motorola does not give details about Motorola One Hyper, as the company calls the technology. XDA-Developers notes that the smartphones used appear to be Motorola Edge copies and that Motorola previously released a smartphone under the name One Hyper.

On Friday, Xiaomi also unveiled its wireless charging technology called Mi Air Charge. Xiaomi showed a concept of a large charging station for living rooms, which should be able to deliver 5W up to a few meters.
