The CEO of Motorola has confirmed that a new flagship device is on the way. The smartphone will be called Moto X, where the names Xfone and X Phone previously appeared for the device. According to the CEO, the Moto X will have two processors.

Lots of details about the Moto X gave Motorola CEO Dennis Woodside not during an interview at the AllThingsD event, reported by Engadget. He did say about battery life, “Motorola has some of the best engineers and system designers in the world who have devoted their lives to this problem. There are two processors in the device that provide a system that solves the battery problem.”

It is not entirely clear what the CEO is referring to. It may be ARM’s Big.Little concept. Cortex A7 cores are combined with ARM’s high-end CPU, the A15, with the A7 part ensuring economical operation when little computing power is required. The Moto X should be on the market at the end of this summer.

The smartphone will be manufactured in the United States in a facility previously used by Nokia. In the US, the smartphone will be offered by many providers, so it is not a device that will be delivered exclusively with a bare Android version. There may be variants with stock Android: Motorola has promised to roll out bare Android software to devices this year.
