Mortal Kombat 11 mod removes 30fps cap and adds widescreen support
Modmaker Endri Lauson has created a PC mod for Mortal Kombat 11 that lifts the 30fps limit on certain parts of the game. That limit goes there to 60fps. The mod also introduces support for monitors with a 21:9 ratio in parts.
Mortal Kombat runs at 60fps on all consoles, including the Nintendo Switch, but in certain parts of the game that limit is set to 30 frames per second. The latter also applies to the PC version of the fighting game. However, there is no option to remove this 30fps limit in the settings of the PC version of the game. Modmaker Endri Lauson says Mortal Kombat is a great game that deserves to be played at 60fps. His mod makes that possible in certain parts.
The mod removes that 30fps limit in the menus, intros, fatal blows, fatalities and at The Krypt. Those parts now have a 60fps limit. The Krypt is a section where players can purchase things with virtual money. The mod also makes the black bars on the menus and The Krypt disappear when a 21:9 monitor is used. Incidentally, Lauson says that The Krypt is very poorly optimized and that only users with high-end PCs can notice an improvement here; its own ‘beastly PC’ can’t run that part at 60fps.
